This "historical-oriented origin story" chronicles the efforts of a young prince, Vlad of Transylvania, who is trying to keep the Ottoman empire and the Turks from using his small country as a stepping stone to invade Europe. But in a moment of desperation, he ascends a mysterious mountain said to be cursed with black magic, to see if there's any truth to a magical power he could use to keep the invading army out. But what he ultimately becomes is something he never expected...  (Sounds like the historical Dracula becomes the fictional Dracula!)
