German 'vampire' cannibal sentenced
A court in Germany has sentenced a vampire killer to life imprisonment for murdering two teenagers whose blood he drank and whose flesh he ate. Identified only as a petty thief called Jan O, 26, he admitted the murders of a girl called Nina, 14, outside the town of Bodenfeld in November last year. He killed her friend Tobias, 13, five days later at almost the same spot.

Vampire-Huntress Author L.A. Banks Gravely Ill
L.A. Banks, the author of the New York Times best-selling hit vampire-huntress series Minion, is fighting for her life at a hospital in her Philadelphia hometown. The writer, whose real name is Leslie Esdaile Banks, has adrenal cancer, reports Jenice Armstrong of philly.com.

Gene Colan (artist, "Tomb of Dracula") dies at 84
 Comic book artist Gene Colan, who during his nearly seven-decade career illustrated the adventures of such characters as Dracula, Batman, Daredevil and the wise-cracking Howard the Duck, has died in New York. He was 84. Colan died June 24 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx of complications from liver disease and cancer, said longtime friend and biographer Clifford Meth.In developing a style both subtle and emotional, Colan imbued his characters with a vitality that seemed to leap off the pages.

Direct-to-DVD 'Twilight' prequel in the works
Summit Entertainment has announced that it will produce a direct-to-DVD Twilight prequel that follows the life of a young, human Carlisle Cullen before the events of Stephenie Meyer's books.  Carlisle, played by Peter Facinelli in the films, is the patriarch of the Cullen clan, but he doesn't have as big a role in the movies as in the books.
